As you can see, the award was given last year yet (too bad the proud dad was busy to write it in this blog) when Arizza made history by becoming the first young Filipina to win such an award. She donated part of her US$ 4,000 prize to the expansion of the Kris Library in Quezon City (Please read. http://www.krislibrary.com/1/post/2011/08/young-muslim-donates-4000-p168000-zonta-award-prize-to-empower-muslim-womenchildren.html ).
We are announcing this now in the hope that it will inspire the youth and everyone else that age is no barrier to one’s capacity to attain one’s full potential and achieve unimaginable feat in life.
There is a hero in each of us waiting to be unleashed! It is time to bring out the hero in all of us. You can start by supporting Arizza’s quest to educate 500 smart but poor children in five years of her full scholarship as the Top 7 in the 2011 entrance examinations of the University of the Philippines or UPCAT (out of about 60,000 examinees nationwide). This is Arizza’s way of giving back to all Filipino tax-payers who are paying for her free education in UP.
