Initially, we are calling this project the Satti Funds for Kris Scholars (Satti-Kris). It involves the merging of our old business of introducing the Mediterranean-originated Satti to Filipinos to earn funds to finance the schooling of our scholars and the building of more Kristiyano-Islam Peace Libraries in the country.
Although right now the Kris project is financed by the monthly thites coming from our family and one donor from abroad – as well as the sporadic contributions of a few others – we fear Kris cannot survive long this way. Besides, we know we cannot be begging for donations forever.
Thus, we are embarking on this project to ensure continuity and sustainability in the operation of our Kris Library and the establishment of many more; as well as ensure that we can assure the 101 scholars we are helping now that we can see through their education till college.
Under the project, we are inviting everyone to have a taste of our Satti – a variation of the popular Satay and Sate in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Malaysia – right in the reading area of the Kris Peace Library in Quezon City and right under a mango tree. For those who love books and who love reading, this is the place where you can savor an exotic food while reading our collection of donated books from abroad.
For every order of Satti and other Muslim foods; coffee and beverages; and snack items, you get to donate a portion of it to the Kris projects and Kris scholars. Likewise, one peso (P1.00) for every purchase of our Satti Hot Chili Peanut Ketchup will go to the operation to Kris Library scholars and finance the operation of Kris Libraries in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur, Quezon City and Rodriguez, Rizal.
The money earned from Satti will ensure the continued operation of Kris Libraries where poor students have free use of computers, do research, obtain reading lessons; as well as finance the completion of the four more Kris Libraries that are still works in progress.
