The Philanthropists
There is a season
for reaping Heaven's yields,
When angels descend
to dwell in caring hearts,
When prayers unsaid
come back to bless a child,
And relentless pain
is soothed with lavish care;
Earthling angels
Are sure to be in charge.
I can’t stop recalling the haunting words in this poem whenever I open my computer to see a message from someone donating P500, P1,000 or even more for the operational maintenance of the Kris Library in Zamboanga City or the full completion of four other Kris Libraries all over the country.
This is the same feeling I get when I return to our Quezon City home – the front side of which has been converted into the Kris Peace Library (Quezon City) – to find boxes of books, stuff toys, old computers and printers sent by donors here and abroad.
Such was the case when Mr. Roberto Vasquez recently brought to us boxes containing Disney’s Wonderful World of Knowledge children’s encyclopaedia, old and new toys and even picture frames to be given to the thousands of children who go to our libraries daily.
Such “season for reaping Heaven’s yields” always happens when we sometimes begin to worry where to get resources for the monthly needs of the libraries or where to source out books to give to the increasing number of people, communities and schools asking for books.
It is in those worrisome days – we are just human, you know -- of “relentless pain” when we see “Earthling angels” descending down our place or in the in-boxes of our computers to tell us they are sending help and assistance, thereby soothing our hearts with “lavish care” in order that we may continue to serve as instruments to “bless a child.”
With this poem, we thank the donor-writer and also all our many Kris Angels and others who help us too in their prayers or by helping spread the word regarding our need for books and resources to generous friends, organizations and business groups by posting our blog and Facebook entries in their walls or by tagging or emailing our message to their friends and loves ones.
Kris Library would never have existed this long without the “caring hearts” of its “earthling angels” who are "in charge" of our advocacy.
